This American motion picture and stage actress and singer was also known for her leading roles as a gracious and well-bred woman as well as her comic roles.  Dunn became a popular success and appeared in approximately forty feature films.  She retired after making “It Grows on Trees” (1952).  Thereafter she occasionally appeared on television, “The Beverly Hillbilly’s” being most remembered, but spent the remainder of her life predominantly devoted to civic affairs.
